Preparing Your Music For Mastering
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
All you have to do is
- Ideally, save your final mixes as data files (not audio files) onto a CD. These files should be either wav. or aiff. files in 24bit 48,000 Hz format. (Alternatively, you can supply us with your final mixes and we'll convert them into the proper format for you.)
- Don't have your mix pegged to 0db, but instead keep the level between -3 and -10 db so that you don't run the risk of audio distortion.
Files preparation is a very important phase to obtain the best result in mastering process. Please don't apply any kind of compressor, limiter (Waves L1, L2 or similar) or equalizer to the master channel in the mix out!!!
For any doubt about file preparation contact us before proceeding to upload on our FTP server.
Note
Compressing or equalizing the audio twice may reduce the fidelity of your music. Aim to have your average peak levels between -6 dB and -3 dB digital full scale. Note. if you do not understand what this means, contact us for all necessary information. Please DO NOT! Compress or Equalize, we will handle this for you.
